The following enumeration of surviving New York Central steam locomotives was printed in the pages of the Central New York Chapter, NRHS Green Block by Richard Palmer. Any additions, updates, or clarifications to the original are noted in the footer.

On October 9th 2024, the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society (FWRHS) publicly announced that they had acquired NYC #3001 and "planned to restore the 4-8-2 locomotive to operation for use on its popular Indiana Rail Experience excursions".
